FRONTS....
This fight is on several fronts. Our adversaries are working hard to eliminate our industry. Their stated goal is to force us to close our doors (as seen here). The battle is being waged by each side on several fronts.
Legal. Our team, which is made up of several industry groups and companies, has worked hard at crafting a legal response to the moratorium and have met with the city to discuss the legal issues. All three of the battle fronts are important, but this one is key.Public. Some councilors have made it a major part of their strategy to carry this fight to the press in an attempt to sway public opinion against our industry. We have worked hard to be sure an accurate message is communicated to the public, that the facts are correct and that the reporting is balanced. Political. Our team has met with the council members to be sure they fully understand the implications a moratorium has not only to our industry but to their constituents and the message this sends to the other businesses in the city of Birmingham. This is not a "business friendly" message that will further economic development in the city.
Anything less than a well coordinated and executed effort on each front is a recipe for failure as many communities around the country have already seen. We do not want ours to be next!
