WE NEED
EVERYONE'S HELP -- NOT JUST A FEW
If you are in the short-term lending
business in Alabama and wish to stay in this business, we ask for your
help now! Several weeks ago we sent a request for help with
political donations. So far we stand at less than 75% of our goal.
We will publish a list of those who have helped us later. You owe
them a great debt of gratitude for standing up for our industry.
We are not sure of the reason why so many have chosen not to
participate, but here are a few possible reasons and our response:
1) I am not a member of TPCA.
Not being a member is an even greater reason to help us today. TPCA is made
up of volunteers that spend a great deal of their personal time keeping
our respective doors open. For whatever reason you are NOT a
member, this is your chance to make a contribution that will go toward
the good of our industry for you and the industry. This is your chance to make a difference
and not let others do all the work. And your contribution, large
or small, will be greatly appreciated by all! Please give

2) I have my own lobbyist and make my own direct contributions.
Irregardless of your individual companies effort, TPCA and our lobbyist
represent "the industry." When questions come up about our
industry it is the "industry position" that is sought first through our
lobbyist. And it is the industry position that has the greatest
impact. This is the only chance the industry (and not individual
companies) have to
communicate with our elected officials. If we, the industry,
through our own lobbyist
do not support our representatives when they need help, do you really believe

3) My company's primary business is payday lending not title lending.
TPCA is the only short term lending industry trade group with a lobbyist in Montgomery.
Our lobbyist also happens to directly represent
several payday loan companies and was actively involved in getting the
legislation passed that allows payday lending in our state. So, in
many cases he becomes the voice for "the entire industry." Your
contributions to our PAC insure his success -- which, in turn, insures
